A
private company which offers an enhanced version of the popular
open-source MySQL product. NuSphere is a wholly-owned
subsidiary of
Progress Software Corporation, which also produces the
Progress RDBMS product.
NuSphere has been the subject of scrutiny lately on such forums as Slashdot because of a contract dispute with the original developers.
The name is apparently a play on Noosphere.
