Caelum is the latin word meaning both chisel and sky, though not strictly the sky. It's in the second declension, and is masculine. Earlier versions of the word include coelum and caelus. Caelum also appears to be related to the Greek word koilos, meaning hollow. The sky meaning also formed out of koilos, as the sky can be thought of as a hollow sphere.
