AKA Specierigsdaler and daler - Danish silver coin from the
15th century. Until
1618 the only
silver coin in the country.
Since it was of silver, it could be used in other countries than
Denmark. In
1813 the coins started being traded in for notes, and as of 1875, it was being completely
removed from the system. The term
krone has been used as
currency unit since then in Denmark,
Sweden and
Norway.
