The International Zen Association (-- the association is French, thus making the TLA, AZI, seem to be spelt backwards.)

AZI is a cultural association founded in 1970 by Master Taisen Deshimaru to support his mission. Its goal is the dissemination of Zen practice and teaching as transmitted by Master Deshimaru, in an effort to help today's civilization resolve the serious crisis it is facing (according to AZI that is).

AZI is part of the Soto Zen school and is recognized by the Japanese Zen authorities. More than two hundred dojos and zazen groups throughout the world, particularly in Europe are part of AZI. More than ten thousand people are practising regularly in these dojos.
