Spontaneous, as-you-go, unplanned/unrehearsed, whatever. As in On-the-fly rendering! On-the-fly tattoo-removal! On-the-fly noding! The wings on-the-fly!

I don't think this actually has *anything* to do with a fly, or zipper of any sort.
