In the evening silence,

The snow fall screams:

Stay inside.

The snow says:

You could be lost,

And then, Lost,

For God’s sake,

For my sake, stay home.

And yet –

How tempting to struggle

To your door.

And yet –

It would not be kind,

To ignore your advice –

To pay you

An extravagant attention,

And ignore what you ask –

Rude indeed!

By which means

I find romance risible,

At times disturbing –

As in looking down the street

At night on a snowfall,

And wondering

Who out there is wandering lost,

Frozen, and then

Then for your sake

And for mine, I will stay home.

But if your life is at stake,

Winter gloves are on,

And all bets are off.
