A place where
graduate students engage in advanced study of a particular discipline. The goal of grad school is typically a
master's degree or a
Ph.D. or similar advanced degree. Graduate schools are typically (almost always) associated with
university or departments of universities.
Grad school experiences vary widely. My own was hellish, and I disrecommend it to anyone who thinks they might be able to be happy doing anything other than being an academic.
