Interesting enough, Nigger-Man was the name of H.P. Lovecraft’s childhood pet, a cat. It ran away when he was forced to leave his home with his mother in 1904, thanks to financial difficulties after his father died.
Nigger-Man is also the name of the narrator’s cat in Lovecraft’s story “Rats in the Walls.”
