The Three C's (idea)

Information about the alcoholism of a friend or family member often given by Al-Anon oldtimers to newcomers:

"You didn't cause it, you can't control it, and you can't cure it."

Al-Anon newcomers are encouraged to put the focus on their own problems and shortcomings rather than on attempting (in vain) to change the alcoholic.
