South of the Border, West of the Sun is a book by Haruki Murakami (or Murakami Haruki), who is also the author of A Wild Sheep Chase, Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World, Dance, Dance, Dance, The Elephant Vanishes, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and more recently Norwegian Wood.
South of the Border, West of the Sun deals with the life of Hajime, (Beginning in Japanese) and how his childhood love/obsession effects his later life. This book tends to be much simpler than Murakami's previous novels, and really, in my opinion, not as good. Still, the South of the Border, West of the Sun does have it's moments, and at some points is extremely beautiful.
South of the Border, West of the Sun was a New York Times Notable Book.
