The room in which a
musician or
singer practices.
Normally
sound proof or dampened, these tiny chambers of
acoustical hell are often directly connected to one another making rehearsal with a
metronome or privacy impossible. Many musicians spend their entire
formative time in a practice room and as such have difficulty
performing for people or listening in to the ensemble they are playing with.
The "practice room sound" is a syndrome that many
young musicians fall prey to - it refers to not being able to adjust to your
surroundings and always playing with the same timbre and interpretation you use while by yourself, in the practice room.
Also, a designated place for
making out amongst
high school band and choir students. Don't ask me why.
