zenirc is an irc client that runs inside Emacs, and it comes with XEmacs by default. It also has the most descriptive slogan for IRC client that has ever been uttered by IRC client author. Deep wisdom. Really deep wisdom.
It was originally written by Ben Mesander, and others have contributed.
ZenIRC seems to be rather featureless and simple, but it is very extensible. (Obvious, because in ZenIRC, the scripting language is the client.)
