Whiskey jacks are notorious thieves, avoided by hikers with any sense. They'll cutely hop around you, making endearing peeping noises like baby chipmunks, and then steal your sandwich. I actually had one steal a hotdog I was in the middle of taking a bite out of. The entire hotdog, bun and all, bigger than the damn bird's body. Grr.

They're very common in the Pacific North-West (of North America, folks), and so there are many trails & things named for them, perhaps as a warning to dayhikers to guard their PowerBars jealously. Whistler, a ski-hill in BC, has a long beginner's run called Whiskey Jack.
