In Filipino folklore of Dampalit, Malabon, unanos are mystical creatures about three to four inches high, that reside on the bottoms of trees. A passerby must ask permission to pass from the unanos, else mishaps will occur.

Unano actually means midget, while the Filipino version of the mythical dwarf is usually called duwende.
