Honor Harrington universe. The treecat is a six-limbed arboreal native to the higher-gravity-than-Earth world of Sphinx. Treecats are
telepathic within their species, and
telempathic with sentient life-forms. Treecats in human society have typically bonded with a human; death to one of the bondmates usually leads to suicidal feelings in the other.
Treecats in the wild live in clans, each clan headed by memory singers (female treecats with strong mental abilities and eidetic memories), who serve as the continuous history of the species. Male 'cats are usually scouts and hunters.
