don't you wish you could listen to the birds?
to hear the stories of their days
about their cousin who just nested some twenty miles north
the legend of the giant sparrow
who was large enough to stand up to a hawk
the wolf who befriended the flock of geese
and they would trade the locations of food
the very old times, a feeling like a gone yesterday
when we had just gained our feathers and were new to the sky
it was warmer and quieter without all the concrete
and though so much was different, it is all much the same
but now it is darkening and i will sing you the story of Peter
the pidgeon who flew in the night
