A really sweet device designed to hork up nearly any shape imaginable out of plastic. Like a printer for 3D CAD. Dig this: take one vat of UV-curing plastic, two UV lasers, four galvos, a vertically adjustable tray in the vat, and one computer. Move the tray to just under the surface of the plastic. Have both beams meet to follow a contour on the surface. Drop the tray a tiny bit. Lather, rinse, repeat for each cross sectional contour of some arbitrary 3D shape. You now have a physical 3D model of whatever you were drawing in a stack of the contours. As close as you can get to a replicator.
