The president of a stake. An ecclesiastical office in both the LDS and RLDS churches. A stake is a grouping of congregations, usually 7-15 in number. The presidentis assisted by two councillors, a council of 12, and various secretaries and clerks. A stake usually has about 2000 members. A stake president, like all other officers in the mormon churches except the president, is selected or called by the ranking authority.
