Special Interest Group is a concept introduced into the
lexicon by those on the right to limit the effectiveness of
any organization that attempts to speak for those who can't.
Not so much a perversion of the democratic process, but a realization of it. If labour unions, and consumer organizations, and public interest research groups, and environmental organizations, and the whole panoply of groups that speak for those who can't are excluded from the process, to be replaced by soft money, big oil executives, and representatives of anything big--there are far more of these than there are big unions--then the democratic process is perverted.
Isn't that much the way it works today?
