したい

Shitai is the Japanese word for cadaver or corpse. It is also used to mean body, although there are a number of other words with this meaning. It is also sometimes used to refer a task force or a human figure.

Many works of Japanese manga and computer games have characters named Shitai or Shitai-san (Mr. Corpse). These characters are generally corpses, and may be involved in rather unsavory activities. You have been warned.

Shitai County is county in Anhui Province of the People's Republic of China.

To complement the writeup already here:

死体「したい」 - Shitai

「死」 - Kanji representing death.

「体」 - Kanji representing the body.
---------------------
Shitai also has other meanings, depending on kanji (and in speech, by context), including:

姿態 - which means figure, form, or style,

肢体 - limbs, members, body, and

屍体 - a cadaver, and

支隊 - a task force

This highlights the core weakness behind the use of romaji, especially when learning Japanese.
