Serv-U is a particularly nice
FTP server that runs on
Windows platforms. It has many
configuration possibilities, and it actually has
detailed, well-explained
documentation, which is a rarity these days.
The current version is 2.5j, and it was written by Rob Beckers, DBA Cat Soft, which is an affiliate of deerfield.com. I've used it for several years, and it works rather well. It's never crashed, and the security is pretty good for a shareware program.
When you install it, you can use a slightly crippled version that does not contact an internet server, or use a full version that gets a temporary key and logs your IP address. Look for it on www.downloads.com, and I'd suggest you actually buy a key if you use it often enough, as it's worth supporting good shareware writers.
