The symbol of the eternal conflict between chaos and order. Similar to a yinyang, one side representing chaos has a golden apple at it's center, the other (order) has a pentagram. The sacred chao was born of an illuminating experience in a bowling alley shared by the founders of Discordianism.

"Pronounced the way you'd think: 'Sacred Cow'."
—Apostle Hung Mung

It's tough describing something like this in mere text. Think of the Taoist yin-yang symbol only with a pentagon and the Apple of Discord inscribed Kallisti, and it has a similar meaning, representing the duality of Aneristic order and Eristic chaos and discord (known to adherents as the Hodge and Podge).

Discordians are astonishingly highly aware of the order in the Universe, but they seek to either ignore or avoid it, because order is less fun than Discord and because everything tends to chaos anyway, so why resist it?
