Romance. Zombies. Comedy.
The offspring of a paranormal romance that mated with a horror comedy. A sub-genre of a sub-genre of a sub-genre, or something like that: Horror begat Zombies begat Zombie Comedies begat Romantic Zombie Comedies. Shaun of the Dead (2004) is the defining example of the form, the self-proclaimed original Rom-Zom-Com. Other examples, of course, have since emerged and some of the more entertaining are:
Make no bones about it:
the best of the best rom-zom-coms aren't
horror spoofs. Instead, they are zombie movies that
lampoon popular culture and/or romantic comedies.
My parting suggestion? Grab some popcorn (or candy corn) and some roses, light a candle or two, and prepare for the gore show. A secure bunker is optional.
