The power trio; the "black chicks" (as siobahn put it) singing backup; the drum solo in concert. Guitars, usually electric, and distorted to taste. I'm sure more will come to mind, once I find mine - and when I do, I'll turn on MTV and find some more examples (amidst the five-minute commercial breaks, the rap vids and the long video-less stretches). On second thought, maybe VH1 would be of more use.
