At one time rnr may have meant "Russell News Reader". But now Russell Schulz (just like Microsoft) claims it does not mean a thing. You can find current rnr version 2.44 at http://www.worldgate.ca/~rschulz/uucp/.

The great thing about rnr is it is about the only newsreader that could do ...

• runs on a DOS-based PC connected via UUCP to Internet
• understand waffle or uupc/extended news spoolq
• have real references-based threading
• have killfile and antikillfile

But there are not many of us UUCP'ers around anymore, so I suppose this would be one of the factual nodes that everyone else don't care about.
