Also, in printing, getting everything that's being applied to a sheet of paper to line up just right. Either on the same side (as with different colors or when printing things on top of something already printed) or on the opposite sides. If you've ever seen a magazine, newspaper or book where colors didn't quite line up right (almost as if you were supposed to be wearing anaglyph 3-d glasses while reading), they probably got the registration wrong.
