The pygora is a crossbred type of goat first registered by Katherine Jorgensen in the mid-1970's. She wanted to breed a goat with the fiber qualities of an Angora and the temperament, down and stature of a Pygmy.

Pygoras are a popular breed for folks with small plots of land and the desire to work with fiber (spinning and weaving, for example). There's even a Pygora Breeders Association, located at http://www.pygoragoats.com.

The Rancid_Pickle family decided to start raising them, and we have one named Smokey. He's a lovable rogue with a grey and white coat. We expect to breed him during the autumn months. You can expect to see my new "kids" on my homenode when they're born.
