The pull-off is a guitar playing technique related to the hammer-on. Where in the hammer-on, one hammers on a string at a certain place with the chord hand to produce a sound, the pull-off involves fretting the string, plucking it to produce a sound, and then pulling off the chord fingers in sequence, creating a similar sound to plucking only much faster.

This is a technique used to play the guitar. To perform a pull off, remove your finger from the fretted string so that it rings out at a lower fretted note (or open) without being plucked or picked. This is usually (but not always) performed during a solo.
