Protein Bars are the nutritional equivalent of a whey protein shake
and are generally consumed by people following some sort of exercise
regimen, usually involving weight lifting
or by people following a low-carbohydrate diet like the Atkins Diet
They’re fast, easy, and convenient but no matter what flavor the manufacturer attempts to impart, they all end up tasting vaguely like a mixture of dog shit and sawdust – or at least what I imagine that mixture to taste like.
Still, if you are trying to work off years of sitting at a computer and eating fast food, a little dog shit and sawdust isn’t too high of a price to pay. Just try to resist the temptation to wash the awful taste out of your mouth with a bottle of Yoo-Hoo and a Twinkie.
Here’s the nutritional info of the back of the one I just ate for breakfast:

Total Carbohydrate: 7g
Dietary Fiber: 1g
Now where’s that bottle of Yoo-Hoo?
