A propane torch is a hand-held tool that provides a hot and focused flame. The top removable nozzle is typically made of machined brass and it attaches to the top of removable (and recyclable) cylinders filled with propane gas.

These tools are particularly useful for soldering large items such as copper pipes and fittings for plumbers. I used them often to build homemade ham radio antennas out of copper pipes. I use a cane that has a large cast skull as the handle soldered to a copper tube. The artist custom-fit it for my height.

When the cylinder is empty one can purchase replacements. Most of the time the cylinders are not refillable, but there are some folks who sell a device that can get the propane liquid transferred from a larger tank. I prefer not to explode into a giant fireball.
