In Fencing, taking and controlling the blade of one's opponent with one's own blade for the entirety of the action leading up to a touch. Can be done with an Envelopement, or a parry, if one does not immediately follow the parry with a riposte (which is kind of useless). Hard to do, but a successful prise de fer will mean your opponent can do nothing but retreat or be hit.
