Like scrapple, Pork roll or Taylor ham is a pork product popular in the south Jersey / Philadelphia region. It is served at breakfast on a bun or with eggs. The most popular and easiest to find brand is Taylor Pork Roll.

To prepare, cut either four small slits from the outside edge or make a single slit from the center out. This is done because the pork roll contracts a bit when you cook it. It is good with scrambled eggs, american cheese in a torpedo roll.

Although pork roll isn't the healthiest breakfast meat on the planet, it's distinctive and savory flavor is well received. If your local supermarket carries this product or it is on a breakfast menu, give it a try.
