A phlycten is a pinkish-yellow nodule occuring in the conjunctiva or the cornea. It usually develops into an ulcer, subsequently healing without trace in the conjunctiva but often produces some residual scarring when in the cornea. Phlyctens are prone to recur, and it is thought that they are caused by a bacterial allergy.
