Phenetics is the practice of classifying organisms on the basis of overall similarity, in terms of morphology or molecules. While this type of systematics places the most similar things together, it does not necessarily reflect evolutionary relationships. Cladistics is a method of systematics which explicitly attempts to place the most closely related organisms together.
