In my limited experience, a peakbagger is someone who has climbed the 46 highest mountains in New York State, also sometimes known as a "46er". Depending on who is using the term, "peakbagger" can either be derogatory or congratulatory. Some people think that peakbaggers have a pathological need to conquer, or that climbing for numbers is a form of megalomania.

The mountains themselves are concentrated mostly in the Adirondack Mountains, with a few from the Catskills thrown in for good measure. The tallest, at 5344 feet, is Marcy, while the shortest, at 3820 feet, is Couchsachraga.
