The basic idea is folding a piece of paper, cutting randomly sized and shaped notches along the folds, and then unfolding to reveal the geometric patterns formed. A greater number of folds and cuts will yield more complex and intricate patterns. Sometimes the simplest ones are nice, other times the more ornate ones are captivating. Care must be taken when choosing where to cut so as to avoid having it fall to pieces on accident.
