An expression for a person focused only on a particular topic (exactly what topic can vary). It's derived from railroads, where if there's only one track for the train to be on, then that train can't leave that track to go anywhere else. One web site I've seen (http://www.hiram.net/mi-masons/Chapter_II.html) credits the phrase to Woodrow Wilson but I can't find any confirmation.
