In democratic elections, a nominal ballot is a ballot structure wherein one marks their preference with a single choice for an party or individual candidate, or wherein multiple parties or candidates are chosen with the weight of each vote being equal.

Example of a single vote on a nominal ballot:

Who should have to eat the lard?

_ Pseudo_Intellectual
_ Truffle
x yam
_ L'Homme Tomate
Example of multiple votes on a nominal ballot:

Who should have to eat the lard?

x Pseudo_Intellectual
_ Truffle
x yam
x L'Homme Tomate
See approval voting. Contrast with ordinal ballot, borda count.
