I hate affected, niminy-piminy chits!
Jo March - Little Women
One of the most underused adjectives I've come across. It is used once in Chapter 1 of the book
Little Women (written by
Louisa May Alcott), and also made it into the film starring
Winona Ryder,
Susan Sarandon and
Claire Danes.
I have no clue as to its intended meaning other than in the context above. Used in the same sentence as affected, it also sounds synonymous with irritating, stupid and frivolous.
