New.net is a
domain name registry, which allows a number of
nonstandard TLD's, such as .family, .golf, .law, and many others. In this way it is much like
OpenNIC and
AlterNIC. However, it owes its quick adoption to the fact that the new.net
client is commonly distributed as
foistware. In addition, the new.net client allows New.net inc. to
install more foistware without permission
via the
internet.
Detecting Infection and Removing Client
Search your hard drive for files named "newdotnet*dll". If there are any results, your computer has been infected. To remove new.net, go to the control panel and open Add/Remove Programs. Find new.net in the list and click "remove". If you have trouble, contact new.net tech support.
