e.g. reading slashdot in Netscape, and having your left hand ready on the ALT-TAB to switch back to the corporate reports from last year.

Luckily, people in the tech-related industry can call slashdot "research". (You can tell your boss I said so!)

Actually, I'd think it would be at least as appropriate to the situation wherein you're managing to do two or more useless tasks at once, procrastinating two (or more) ways simultaneously. Believe me, a practised slacker can do this, and often does, when work is so boring and unpleasant that just one slack-off isn't enough.
