System of syllables in which the first note of the diatonic scale is "Do". In other words, the scale of do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti made popular by The Sound of Music and used frequently in vocal warm-ups. The benefit of the moveable do is that you can use it for any note to create any diatonic scale. This is also helpful in giving singers an idea of what certain intervals should sound like (for example: do to mi is a major third, as is C to E, as well as A to C sharp and many other combinations), thereby enabling them to become better sight readers.
