see couch potato, in front of a computer.

Term found on a Windows 98 with WebTV site, saying "With WebTV you don't need to choose being a couch potato and a mouse potato!"

Rather scary, really. To me a X-potato is someone who passively sits in front of something on an X and watches/observes droolingly and without much reaction. A person can be a sofa potato, a devan potato, a loveseat potato, even a couch potato; but who sits on a mouse? Then again, sitting on one of those new buttonless Mac mice would work, wouldn't it?

Moreover, wouldn't mousing count as interaction and thus response? You don't hear about Dual Shock-potatoes with video games, do you? Nope.

Bad word choice, marketroid.
