Originally designed by Yoshitaka Amano, Moogles first appeared as fuzzy snowman-like creatures in Final Fantasy Adventure (Seiken Densetsu) for GameBoy. They could curse the hero with MOOG status, making him temporarily unable to attack. In Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu II) for Super Nintendo, the Moogles gained their familiar red bat wings and single antenna, along with language ("Kupo!") and culture. Moogles played an important role in Final Fantasy III (Final Fantasy VI): there was Mog -- a major character who could change the weather by dancing -- as well as several minor user-controlled characters named Kupek, Kupop, Kumama, et cetera. Since then, Moogles have been a common sight in SquareSoft productions, and are gradually becoming more associated with Chocobos.

There has not yet been an official Moogle named Getzburg
