The
Mixolydian mode is a
mode whose root (I) is located on the 5th (V) note of a
major scale. In
blues and
jazz theory, this scale is used to play over a
Dominant Seventh (dom7, 7)
chord. One can also think of it as a normal major scale with a flat 7th. An example follows:
G Mixolydian (C major, w/ root on G)
