A grape variety, and a kind of red wine. Some people say it has a "fat and juicy personality" (http://www.eatdrinkdine.com/), but I find it smooth and somewhat fruity.
Originally from the bordeaux region of France (in the loire valley and cahors), it is now widely planted in Argentina and Chile.
It is great with almost everything, but especially with meat. There are some excellent Malbecs in Argentina--and, given that Argentina is also well known for its terrific meat, you should go there and have a beef with some local Malbec, and remember me while drinking it. Try a Terrazas--it is exquisite and, with the dollar so low, it costs about $4!!
