A kimberlite pipe is a geologic structure, something like a long volcanic blowhole, containing rocks that solidified from magma from deep within the earth's mantle.

The rocks in a kimberlite pipe are a jumble of dense, dark-colored olivine, garnet, and various oxide minerals. They are a rich source of diamonds.

They are named after the place they were first discovered: Kimberly, South Africa.
