Jalapeño eye syndrome is the technical term used to describe the sensation when jalapeño oil (genuine or synthetic) somehow gets in your eye.

It fricking smarts.

Often times, jalapeño eye syndrome rears its ugly head at a LAN party where a victim snacking on jalapeño chips rubs at their sleep-watery and phosphor-strained eyes.

Advisory to those who wear contact lenses: If you are eating jalapeño chips and you catch a contact lens as it falls out for whatever reason, do not attempt to put it back into your eye. Furthermore, no amount of washing or soaking will immediately purge the lens of the fiery oil.
