IBFAN is an acronym for the International Baby Food Action Network. IBFAN is a worldwide coalition of citizen groups working for better child health through the promotion of breastfeeding and the elimination of irresponsible marketing of commercial infant foods, bottles and teats.

Mounting public outcry over the dramatic consequences of inappropriate bottle feeding caused the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF to organise a Meeting on Infant Feeding. It was at that Meeting, on 12 October 1979, that IBFAN was launched.

There are now more than 150 groups in 70 countries participating in IBFAN. They keep in touch through a system of 9 Regional Representatives and 3 Central Office coordinators. The Central Offices act as service centres to the Regional Representatives and all IBFAN participants.
