A rock climbing term referring to when the person on The Sharp End, roped or unroped, falls completely to the ground. This can be, and is frequently, fatal. This can be the conclusion of taking a Screamer.

A baseball term.

A grounder, or ground ball is a batted ball that rolls or bounces along the ground. Although most bunts also hit the ground, they are not considered ground balls. There is no penalty for hitting a ground ball -- it's just not likely to allow you many runs.

Compare to: bunt, fly ball, pop fly, line drive or liner, home run, and the ignoble foul ball and foul tip.
